This week the PE teacher at Binh Duong New City, Singapore International School, Mr Angus Crisp has implemented Australian football into his lessons. Mr Angus decided to purchase five auskick balls when he returned to his native Tasmania during Christmas break. Although Mr Angus is not an avid fan of Australian football he believes it is a great game to teach children to learn fundamental motor skills for future physical activity and sports participation. Mr Angus thinks that physically active children are more attentive, have a more efficient memory, enhanced creativity and better learning and problem solving and attitude capabilities.
The kids were amazed at the funny shape of the ball and had fun discovering it for themselves. Mr Angus and his colleague from the Vietnam Swans, Kiwi Kurt taught some basic ball skills and the students especially the girls were particularly keen to perfect their handballing and kicking skills.
How good is footy in Asia?
