LoretoFest 2010, the Saigon International Music Festival, was held last Saturday 11 December 2010. During the afternoon, the Vietnam Swans, Saigon Shooters Netball Club, the golfers and a few other sports were also there.
It was relatively quiet as most people were saving themselves up for dusk when the big bands would come out and play on a mega stage. And for us punters, how good was it to sit on the grass of RMIT University, having something to eat and drink while watching live music? It was all good.
But it got better. All money raised from LoretoFest was donated to the Loreto Vietnam Australia Program.
Loreto is a non-profit organization headed in Vietnam by Trish Franklin. The Loreto Program supports and assists children who are disadvantaged, poor and disabled, through education training programs. There are many facets to this program: provision of education to the unprivileged, teaching of vocational skills to enable employment and shelters for orphaned children.
