The 2012 ANZAC Boot Camp. Left, Billy Cranger’s lovin’ the stairs. Right, facilitator Matty Smashalotto – does he even care??

Last year, the Swannies introduced the annual ANZAC Boot Camp, Vung Tau, onto our calendar. The camp begins the countdown to the ANZAC Friendship Match which is the Swannies’ signature event of the year.

Last year, Matty Natalotto led us on the camp and it was a huge success.

There was great bonding between the players and it really set the tone in the lead up to the 2012 ANZAC Friendship Match.

Not surprisingly, the Boot Camp has now become a key event on the Swannies’ calendar

Luckily for us, Matt. who now lives and works in the Philippines, has declared he is available to lead this year’s Boot Camp which will be held on 1-2 March, 2013 – back at Vung Tau.

Matt writes that “the 2012 ANZAC Boot Camp was a huge success and, maybe not so coincidentally, so was the Swannies’ 2012 season!”

The Swannies are very appreciative and grateful that Matt will come back to Vietnam to lead this camp where there will be plenty of sit ups and plenty of laughs.

Meanwhile, hot off the press, Swannie, John Redmond has just written in to say, “Christmas was great. Standard xmas. Plenty of beer and good food. Can’t complain… This Vung Tau Boot Camp can’t come soon enough though!”

For those wanting to have a serious tilt at selection in the ANZAC Squad, some pre training is recommended as we will be hitting the ground running. For those wanting to play in the Legends and All Stars Match, don’t stress. You only need to compete against yourself and so you still need to come along because it’s a really good weekend and there’s a great sense of achievement on the other side.

So, regardless of your level of fitness, this is another Swannies, fully inclusive event. Lock it in: 1 & 2 March in Vung Tau – which is just eight weeks prior to the 2013 ANZAC Friendship Match.
