The AFL’s new video, “AFL Explained” includes footage of Alex Jesaulenko (famous for his soaring mark in the 1970 Grand Final – and wearing a Swannies hat…). For non believers, the new video will raise their interest. For believers, it will reinforce their interest. Click here to view.

Are you new to Aussie Rules? If you’re not, do you know how to explain footy – and keep the interest of non believers – in a sea of atheistic soccer?

Well, the AFL has just made our job a lot easier by releasing an action packed video that is short and crammed with footy highlights to explain the broader and finer points of footy. By the end of the 30 minute video, the viewer still won’t understand everything – but they will understand that they need to get to Hanoi/Saigon or the MCG to see a game of footy.

According to the official blurb, “in AFL Explained you will learn about the game’s rich and colourful history.  You will watch some of the world’s best athletes demonstrate the various skills of the game, while also learning about the rules and positions on a typical Australian football field.”
