In 2016, the Swans were very fortunate to receive a visit from Leo Moran and Andrew Gunn, who presented an Automated External Defibrillator and first aid equipment to the club, which was generously donated by Ambulance Victoria.

Leo and Andrew have a combined 60+ years experience as paramedics for Ambulance Victoria, and through their

EmergCare 112 business have spent considerable time volunteering with clubs and organisations in Bali, Cambodia and Vietnam, providing valuable first aid and resuscitation training. They were part of a first response team on site to assist war veterans and their families during the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in August, and also used this opportunity to provide training to local vets, many of whom work with local children in the community.

After receiving the equipment, the Swans put forward players Dan Morrison and Bill Crang to attend a first aid

training course, to ensure that they are confident using the defibrillator if required. In 2017, the Swans will appoint a Health and Safety Officer, and plan to host a group first aid training for all players.

While we certainly hope the equipment never needs to be used, it is wonderful to know that we have it on hand in the case of emergency (where initial minutes are absolutely crucial), and the Swans would like to say a huge thank you to Leo and Andrew, and Ambulance Victoria CEO Tony Walker for generously donating this equipment!
