The Annual St Paddy’s Gealic / Aussie Rules blockbuster was held yesterday in Saigon.

Yesterday, the Saigon Gaels and Vietnam Swans played in mixed teams for the annual St Paddy’s Gaelic /Aussie Rules blockbuster at RMIT University in Saigon.

Teams were strong in skill and numbers with 26 on each team. A big crowd was also there to watch it all.

In the first two quarters, Aussie Rules was played. The Reds (“Swans”) won 5. 8. 38 to the Whites (‘Gaels’) 5. 3. 33.

In the second half, the Whites turned the tables with the round ball winning 13 to 7.

Irish Brian Farrell won the Player of the Day.

Than ks to Umpires Rocket (Aussie Rules) and Brian O’Rielly (Gaelic).

A raffle organised by the Gaels raised $500 for the Loreto Foundation.

Congratulations to the Saigon Gaels for organising such a magnificent event. Not surprisingly, there is lots of talk that we need a return derby in the second half of the year.

Match report to follow.
