The Vietnam Swans are delighted to announce that this year’s McMillan Dinner, which will be held after the ANZAC Friendship Match on 27 April, will be held on the site of the former Peter Badcoe Club, the Imperial Hotel, Vung Tau.
During the Vietnam War, the Peter Badcoe Club provided servicemen and women with recreational facilities, including the Harold Holt Memorial Pool. It was named after Major Peter Badcoe, VC, who was a member of the Australian Army Training Team in Vietnam. Badcoe was killed in Thau Thien Province in 1968 in an action which saw him awarded the VC.

The Peter Badcoe Medal
Since 2004, the Port Adelaide Football Club has awarded the Peter Badcoe Medal to the most courageous player on the ground in its ANZAC Round. Major Peter Badcoe was a South Australian.
In the Medal’s relatively short history, it has been won by sons of Veterans on three occasions: Lenny Hayes, Chad Cornes and Kane Cornes.
Lenny’s father, Chris, is expected to write a short article for the Vietnam Swans’ 2013 ANZAC Footy Record. He is also a possibility to actually attend the match.
