Head to the highlands and breathe the fresh air, walk through the terraces, bargain at the colorful markets and try some different food. There is a lot on offer at Sapa! Wide Eyed can get you there in comfort and then has options to discover the region by foot or jeep. There are plenty of hotels (including luxury options) or stay in a homestay (prepare your liver for some rice wine tasting).

Laid-back Laos is another great destination. Luang Prabang has the perfect balance of cafes, culture and Chillax. You’ll certainly know you have crossed a border out of Vietnam. In fact the first thing that will get your attention is the silent serenity of Luang Prabang.

Famous for it’s nature, turquoise waterfalls and hip night market, seeing the monks collecting alms is a must and the short climb up Mt Phosi will give you a beautiful view over the town. Java junkies will be in Arabica heaven and your taste buds will be intrigued by the variety of restaurants and flavors. Read on for more ideas about what you can do in Luang Prabang.

Siem Reap is a great place to go if you want to change the pace, experience a different culture and religion AND still hit the nightlife after dark. Siem Reap has plenty of cool options, and the top of the list includes Angkor Wat. It can easily take a few days to discover because it’s a massive site, with 4 prominent locations. A guided tour is the way to go, but do you want to sightsee by bike, mini van or tuk tuk? The Phare Circus is also popular: roll over Cirque Du Soleii, Cambodia definitely has talent.
