You may recall that last week, this very website ran a story about Swannies Website records 100,000th hit. It prompted a number of comments from people including Willy, Gary Ablett Jnr and Barack Obama. Each of them, a big name in their own special way. Barack Obama seems to be a bit of a fan of the Swannies. As you can see from the photo on the left, we even beamed him live into the Swannies AFL Grand Final Party in Hanoi last year. Below is what Barack (which, quite possibly, might be just a pseudonym for Willy) had to say:
Hi. Just in case you don’t know and, say, have been living on another planet like Vietnam, my name is Barack H. Obama, the 44th President of the United States.
My story is the American story — values from the heartland, a middle-class upbringing in a strong family, hard work and education as the means of getting ahead, and the conviction that a life so blessed should be lived in service to others. That is why I firmly believe in the work of the Vietnam Swans blog. Not only does this site provide an unwavering, hard hitting journalistic approach to covering what’s hot and not in Asian footy, it also has photos of Laura (Dundovic, Miss Australia). And that in itself is exactly that – selfless.
In finishing may I just add these wise old words my father told me when I was a young boy: “you have to do your own growing son no matter how tall Drew will be”. A heartfelt thanks to all involved in the Vietnam Swans blog and it’s 100 000 hits.
Barack Obama
the 44th President of the United States.
