You will recall that on 15 March 2012, there was a Battle of the Codes Fundraiser in Jaspas (part of the Al Fresco’s Group), Hanoi jointly organised by the Swannies, Hanoi Oi’s Netball Club, Dura Celts Gaelic Football Club, Hanoi Dragons Rugby Club and the Hanoi Celts Gaelic Club. $1,000 was raised and was to be shared between Swim Vietnam and Little Tigers Orphanage.
On the weekend, the Swans’ Michael Johnston met up with Swim Vietnam’s founder Jo Stewart at Al Fresco’s in Hanoi to give her VND10,20,000 ($500).
Jo has since written to the Swannies to thank everyone for their support:
I met with Michael on Saturday at Al Fresco’s in Hoi An. He gave me the donation of VND 10,020,000 from the Battle of the Codes event in Hanoi.
Can you please pass on our great appreciation to the Swannies, Netballers, Rugby-ers and Gaelic-ers for this contribution.
This is a huge year for Swim Vietnam. We are opening a new pool in Duy Chau in Duy Xuyen next month and this money will go towards this venue. So now we are really getting out into the rural and poorer areas which are badly effected by the flooding.
Please see our photo with some of the Swim Vietnam kids showing their appreciation.
Many thanks as ever, from everyone at Swim Vietnam, to all of the Swannies for your support.
Best regards, Jo.
