Dave O’Shea (front left) drove the Supercoach bus all season and now files a rather controversial review of 2012!

In Supercoach circles, he’s known as Davosdux.

In literary circles, he’s known as brilliant.

In Asian footy circles, he’s known as a traitor (having recently left Vietnam and the Swans for the Jakarta Bintangs – and a better job).

He is, none other than, Dave O’Shea and below he reports on a seemingly very controversial 2013 Supercoach season.

It all started with Ross McRae choosing seven super coaches he knew he could beat and leaving eight of the more skilled coaches to create their own league. Luke Miller (the number 2 ranked super coacher at the start of the season behind Ross), took it upon himself to create the league. The other teams were Littlehead (LH), Daisy, GUS, Moggy, Revo, Dux and Mr Boom Boom Powell.

LH started the year on fire. First he called his team Tazzie Gaylords. Then, he put every player in his team on the market to be traded after the first week and then, when no one traded with him, he stopped playing. Ross will be looking to add Josh to his private league next season.

Second last was Daisy who picked a whole lot of players who were injured for most of the year such as Rioli, Pav and Suckling. He must have been thinking that he would come home strong for the finals.

Oh, that’s right! Luke decided not to have finals, much to the dismay of a number of coaches in the league. Bad luck, Daisy. Stick to rubbing Tabasco sauce on people’s lips on a Friday night.

Here’s a big surprise… Lukey Miller, (the now number 1 ranked player in Vietnam) finished a dismal 6th, only beating the two of the more feminine Supercoach names: Tassie Gaylords and Daisy. He admitted when asked to do a write up that he ‘cracked a Ross like tantrum and threw his dummy out of the pram halfway through the season due to his team’s injuries and didn’t log in again’. Luckily, he took bragging rights in the overall original competition.

Boom Boom Powell lived up to his team name of Gone Sailing and actually did go sailing half way through the year. Although this cost him, his real downfall was picking all the Lions players. When are you going learn, Powelly? You can’t pick a whole supercoach team of Lions players!!! Sauce Merret and Matt Maguire are good defenders but they are not good supercoach scorers.

Probably the best coach of the year was GUS. He just had the worst luck. All his players seemed to get injured just before the match but it never happened the other way round. If you ever feel a little down, just talk to GUS about supercoach or life. You will realise that things aren’t so bad for you after all. Ross, there is some advice for you after losing for the first time in three years.

In thrid place was Revo who whinged and whined all year long about the way Luke set up the competition. He didn’t bother reading the rules which were sent out via e-mail at the start of the year. He just cried to everyone and anyone instead. Then when the rules were resent to him, he apologised.

Moggy started the year on fire and was walking around his office telling all his cop mates how good his strategy was. Moggy chose all defenders and attackers before the higher scoring mids. It worked for a few weeks but when the likes of Swan, Jack, Griffen, Dangerfield, Selwood and others started pumping out huge scores, Moggy stopped talking about Supercoach and went back to eating donuts and doing real police work in Saigon.

What can I say here without sounding arrogant? Davosdux was the best team all year and deserved to win the overall prize. Really the competition was over after round 18. Dux had an insurmountable lead and couldn’t be beaten so no one bothered to log on again.

Next year we definitely need finals. We should also have scoring emergencies on the bench. Other than that, it was a good first season. Perhaps we look at other options so all 16 players can be in one league. Then we can give Ross shite whenever we want. Now that everyone knows how to play, next year will be even better.
