Dick Johnston, premiership player in the VFL and pictured here (left) at the Swannies’ 2010 AFL Grand Final Replay Party in Saigon, is supporting swimming in Vietnam.

Dick Johnston is a Veteran and premiership player in the Vietnam Football League.

He also attended the Replay of the 2010 AFL Grand Final Party in Saigon which, incidentally, was another mega Swannies’ function.

Dick came along with some friends from his local Rotary Club in Perth.

The other day, Dick wrote to say that his Rotary Club has “sponsored two guys from the Swim Vietnam program in Hoi An to come to Perth to do an Austswim course to train the teachers. They arrive on the 6th June. Thom (Dick’s wife) and I are looking after them for the fortnight.”

Swim Vietnam, of course, is the program supported by the Vietnam Swans.

Dick adds that “I have a group of Rotarians that want to go to Vietnam and we are trying to plan it to start in Hoi An on the 15th March 2013 and finish in Vung Tau on the 27th April.”

The Swannies’ Blog quickly wrote back to Dick to ask whether they would be able to stay for the 2013 ANZAC Friendship Match on Saturday 27 April in Vung Tau.

Dick replied, “We will stay next year for the Match.”

Game on.
