Games people playA message from the Lao Elephant’s President:

Gday all,

What a great weekend.

I’d really like to send a big thanks out to everyone for helping make the tri-nations what it was. Swannies, as usual you have been awesome. I cant wait to catch up for the next tournament and hear another of those sensational G-ups. The Swannies will always be like a second home to me! Big thanks to all the lads.

Tigers, thanks for letting us in on the tournie. We’re grateful for the chance and also for the football lesson!! We look forward to more games both in the tri-nations format and maybe one in northern Thailand or Vientiane as discussed on Saturday. Great bunch of blokes in your touring party. Think we’d have a blast wherever it happened.

We will organize a separate trophy for our games, and one for the tri-nations itself – I have actually seen one of an elephant fighting a tiger – no prizes for guessing who wins that battle. We would be right up for next year in Bangkok, and maybe Vientiane the following year……if we can use the SEA games facilities!

Everyone was watchingBig congrats to all involved in the netball, the Mahout girls did us proud – and now I’m sure will be giving us a good ribbing for our lack of wins on the day…as they should!!

Editor’s note: What’s a Mahout? Apart from it being Lao’s victorious netball team, is it an elephant trainer or an elephant rider?
