Kev McMillan in happier times, speaks after the 2010 ANZAC Friendship Match. Last week, Kev lost his battle with cancer and his funeral will be held today in Canberra.

Kev McMillan’s funeral will be held today in Canberra after he lost his battle with cancer last week.

Kev was a great friend of the Swannies and the Club will be represented at the funeral by one of the key architects behind the ANZAC Friendship Match, Dan Kindness.

Remembering happier times, Kev appears briefly in a short documentary on our Inaugural ANZAC Friendship Match in 2010.

Kev says in the video,

“Kevin McMillan. I’m a Vietnam Veteran and I live in Vung Tau. My involvement in this terrific weekend was to escort the Vietnam Swans out to Nui Dat and to give them a bit of a tour and a bit of an insight into Nui Dat as it was 40 years ago.”

The video, made by Tony Burchill has footage of the Inaugural ANZAC Friendship Match in 2010, the ANZAC Dawn Service and a number of interviews with various people – many of whom have already left the country (but not the Club).

The documentary has a number of interesting credits that include:

  • Hair Stylist – Nick “Tips” Shiells
  • Make up – Brian “The Big Irish Poof” O’Rielly
  • All costumes by the House of Shannon
  • Religious Advisor – The Rev. Matty “Pants” Townsend
  • Catering – Phuc Phuc My Phuc
