The Hanoi Prez, C. Dan Hopkins today rallied the troops in the North regarding the upcoming 12th Annual Asian Championships which will be held in Bangers on 13 August 2011. Wait a minute, that’s just 4 weeks away this Saturday!
Hi Hanoi Swannies,
On the 13th of August, Bang Kok will be hosting the 2011 Asian Football Championships. This is the biggest Australian Rules football event in Asia.
Last year in Shanghai, the Vietnam Swans won our first games at an Asian Champs. There was also an exhibition game between the Melbourne Demons and the Brisbane Lions, which is an indication of just how large the Champs are.
After the Champs last year, the Swans continued the winning streak racking up 7 wins in a row, including taking out the Indochina Cup. This year we are obviously looking to improve on last year’s great performance.
The Champs is one of the best weekend trips I’ve been on for the following reasons:
- Playing football in Asia
- The camaraderie with your team mates
- Meeting other Aussies from all over Asia
- Having a football trip with your team plus 10 others playing football plus all the rest of it.
To all Hanoi Swannies this is the call out!
We have already got some of you putting your hand up. Though, let’s put a big Hanoi contingent in this year and show Saigon, and the other teams, that Aussie Rules football is truly alive in Hanoi and we come to play.
Go you Swannies in Bang Kok 2011!
