The Hong Kong Dragons have confirmed their attendance at the Inaugural Asian Presidents Summit which will be held in Bangkok on 27 July 2013.
This brings to 12 the number of clubs that have confirmed so far. The other clubs are:
- China Reds
- Guangzhou Scorpions
- Thailand Tigers
- Vietnam Swans
- Cambodian Eagles
- Timor Leste
- Jakarta Bintangs
- Malaysian Warriors
- Singapore Sharks
- Indian Tigers
- Hong Kong Dragons
- Philippine Eagles
Phil Johns, President of the Vietnam Swans and an organiser of the Summit said that the attendance of so many clubs was a “fantastic result”.
Johns added that:
“Asian footy only exists because we are able to sometimes play opposition teams. So, we all have a vested interest in making sure that we are helping opposition teams off the field. If we help each other off the field, we will be able to play on the field more often. That means we need to be sharing information.
“There are literally billions of people in Asia who couldn’t give a tinker’s cuss about footy. But, collectively, our clubs do. So let’s get on with it. Let’s stop asking each club to reinvent the wheel and start sharing information.
“Imagine where Asian footy could be in the next 5, 10 or 20 years…
“What we start doing in a fortnight will be a key determinant in what that Asian footy picture looks like”, said Johns.
