Can the Swannies do the 3peat at tomorrow’s Indochina Cup in Hanoi? Last year the Swannies went back to back in Lao.

Superstar Swannie, Dave O’Shea, is currently on Struggle Street after “my flight from Saigon to Hanoi got delayed until 9pm tonight so that is annoying. It just means I have to wait longer for the Swannies’ function. I really need a hit of an MSF (Mega Swannies Function)!!!”

Fortunately for the rest of us, that has given Dave time to prepare the preview of tomorrow’s mega blockbuster, the 2012 Indochina Cup in Hanoi.

This evening, Swannies from Saigon will head off to Hanoi where they will be reunited with their Hanoian brothers to do what they do best and that’s playing footy and having MSF’s (Mega Swannies Functions). This weekend the Swans will be having back to back MSFs with the Indochina Cup on Saturday and the Best and Fairest presentations the next day on Sunday. How good is it being a Swannie when you get back to back MSFs?

In 2001-03 the Brisbane Lions won three AFL Premierships in a row. In 2000-02 the Los Angeles Lakers won three NBA titles in a row and in 2007-09 Manchester United won three English Premier League titles in succession. This success is commonly referred to as a ‘3peat’ and this is exactly what the Vietnam Swans will be looking for at the Indochina Cup that will be played in Hanoi tomorrow. FIRE UP SWANNIES!!!

The Vietnam Swans will be represented by 2 teams at this year’s Indochina Cup. The Vietnam Reds and the Vietnam Whites. They will compete against the Cambodian Eagles and a combined team from Laos and Thailand. There are four teams competing which gives the Swannies a 2 in 4 chance of winning or a 1 in 2 chance if broken down to the lowest common denominator.

The draw has been decided and what a final match it will be between the Whites and the Reds.

Will the Whites put on an “Australia A” type performance and cause an upset over the fancied Reds team? The captain of the Whites team ‘MJ’ will certainly be looking for this to happen. With a stellar support cast including the likes of Matty Townsend and Mark Stennett anything could happen.

The Reds will be led by their captain and star player ‘Dukesy’. At last year’s Indochina Cup in Laos, Dukesy was unstoppable and was awarded player of the tournament. He will be looking to lead his troops to victory and claim the 3peat for the Swannies.

Some key members of the Swans will be playing their last match in this tournament. Nat Payne, Phil Jordan and Ado Enright. These three guys are superstar Swannies. Let’s send them out in style by winning the INDOCHINA CUP!!! HONK!!!

Also, a special mention to three former resident Swannies who have all returned from afar for this tournament: Scotty Stacey, Dave Kainey and Timmay Clements.

*** Special thanks to Brian Shiells who has very kindly donated four match footies for tomorrow’s tournament.
