Jim Beam has announced that it will be a major sponsor of the Vietnam Swans for the upcoming 2007 Asian Championships.
Andy Wall, Jim Beam’s Area Director for South East and North East Asia, and Mr Thien advised that Jim Beam will sponsor the Swans with Jim Beam product, the Jim Beam Party Crew and will also design the Official Vietnam Swans Tour shirts.
This is great news for the Swans. Jim Beam product and the Jim Beam Party Crew means that we can hold parties in both Hanoi and Saigon in the lead up to the Champs to raise the profile and the significance of a combined Vietnam team fielding a team in the Champs, raise cash for the Club to help cover costs (such as registration fees) and give everyone a fantastic time.
The Jim Beam Party Crew are no strangers to the Swans. In December 2004, they visited the Hanoi Swans in Hanoi. Ever since then, they have been referred to as the “Swanettes”. Ever since then, there has been no shortage of recollections over a drink: “Remember the Swanettes… yep, yep, yep…” before taking another sip.
But our Swanettes have occasionally visited us since then – at the Barracuda Bar, at Pres Kainey’s Farewell Roasting… And now, they’re back! From one end of Vietnam to the other!
The other strong connection that the Vietnam Swans have with Jim Beam, is that Andy Wall used to be part of us in Hanoi. Further, he will be touring with Vietnam Swans to the Champs. Andy’s official Player Profile states:
Andy Wall (183cm, 83kg) Mr Jim Beam and the provider of the Swanettes. We salute you. The original supplier of the jumpers and a founding father. Great to have him back and looking great for the Hanoi Swans. Will be showing his dash somewhere in the middle.
Details for the Vietnam Swans / Jim Beam Parties in the lead up to the Champs are still to be confirmed. However, Saigon is expected to kick off the Jim Beam festivities on Saturday 30 June. Hanoi’s event will probably be held the following weekend on Saturday, 7 July. Check the blog for confirmation… and the occasional teaser of the Jim Beam Party Crew.
