Dan Sausage Roll WoodleyFinal Score: We’re trying to find out!

After a less than perfect start in Game 1, it was imperative the team got off to a positive, attacking start and that it did. The first half of the game was all Swans with Drew and Johnny dominating the ruck and Sam, Mick Hassett and Greg Eggins running havoc in the centre of the ground. But without doubt the highlight of the first half was the emergence of Dan Sausage Roll Woodley at Full Forward.

His first goal, a contender for the Swans goal of the tournament, was a piece of pure magic as he latched onto a pass to his lead on first hop, dodged around a couple of Bintang defenders and drilled the centre of the goals from around 30m. Other Swannies forwards that saw plenty of the ball were Euan Hind and Martin Jacobs.

Johnny Gowing keeps going and goingThe second half was a tight affair with the Bintangs stepping up a notch to make a game of it and started an unfortunate trend of the Swans just not being able to hold at the end. With the ball seeing more time in the back lines, our defensive duo of Trav “The General” Fennell and Kris Vandemeer, were called upon time and again to rebound Bintang attacks and did a fabulous job. Ably supported by Will and Damo, the boys battled hard but at the end of the day just couldn’t keep out the relentless Bintangs who managed to fall over the line.
