Cannonball Run Leg 2, HCMC (RMIT University, D7)

The return leg of the 2023 Cannonball Run series is already upon us, as the Cambodia Eagles and Apsaras cross the border into enemy territory this Friday evening to face the Vietnam Swans on Saturday August 19th at RMIT University here in HCMC.
The Eagles will be keen to bounce back and make amends for their honorable loss two weeks ago in Phnom Penh at the hands of the Swans men, while the Apsaras are no doubt beaming with confidence after a big win over an undermanned Lady Swans outfit.

It’s shaping up to be a cracking weekend of football! A near-full strength Lady Swans team is bloody exciting to watch and coach Wayne McMahon has made it clear that redemption is absolutely necessary when the women step out on the lush fields of RMIT this Saturday. For the Men’s game, it seems the Eagles may be bolstered by a combination of Swans cross-overs and a few very handy players that are passing through, some big names I hear will be wearing the blue and yellow on Saturday arvo, that will be sure to ruffle a few feathers on-field.

With the 2023 Asian Championships just weeks away, we are expecting two high-level contests, and no doubt the magnets will be thrown around in what will be the last chance for both clubs to finetune their game plans and playing styles before the big tournament in September.

Game 1: Vietnam Lady Swans vs Cambodia Apsaras
Start Time: 11:15am
Game length: 4 x 15 minute quarters
Game 2: Vietnam Swans vs Cambodia Eagles
Start Time: 1:00pm
Game length: 4 x 20 minute quarters
Please arrive at the oval before 10am to assist in setting up the goals, have a kick and catch, and put your hand up to volunteer if/when needed!
Due to strict safety/security processes, players and spectators alike will need their names on a list and are required to carry ID or picture of ID when arriving. If you are interested in coming along, you are more than welcome (!) but please inquire via a current player or via our social media channels so we can get your name on the list.
The post-game event will be held at our gold sponsors bar and home of AFL footy in Saigon, The Jackaroo Bar & Grill! They’ve done a brilliant job with our recent events in 2023 and we look forward to another awesome night with Jay and the crew. Information is below:
