Mick O’Shea, brother of Swannies superstar, Dave O’Shea, has just completed the Brisbane Times City2South Run which was held in Brisbane on 16 June.
Mick, who played for the Swannies against Malaysia back in March 2013, wore his Swannies training singlet and finished the 14km run in an incredible 49 minutes and 27 seconds.
Of the 5,460 runners, Mick finished in 16th place overall (top 0.29 per cent). In the “Males, 20-29yrs” Division, Dave finished in 7th place out of 505 runners. His time splits were as follows:
- First 5kms – averaged 16.84km/hr;
- Second 5kms – increased average to 17.09km/hr;
- Final 4kms – “dropped back’ to a more comfortable 17.04km/hr!!
From all the Swannies, congratulations to Mick for his amazing effort. To see full details, including his time splits, click here.
Incidentally, this website is now trying to clarify why the above official photo, notwithstanding his 16th place, has Mick on the podium… (click here for the official photos on the organiser’s official Facebook page).
Meanwhile, yesterday, the Shinboner, Natty Payne forwarded the photo above of the cyclist with the caption, “Found this guy flogging peptides on Swanston St, Melbourne”.
Turns out that ‘this guy’ is former Skipper, Dukesy! And how extraordinary it is to see the Skipper become a Cycler! Is this the same skipper who once quoted Kevin Sheedy in a celebrated spray to Kyle about the day bicycles are allowed on the footy field during matches will be the day that cycling becomes valid for Swannies’ training sessions…
Go you Swannies!
