Miss Australia 2008 has congratulated the Swannies for our semi finals appearance at the 2011 Asian Champs – and asked us to spread the word about Make a Wish.
Back in 2008, Laura Dundovic travelled to Vietnam for the Miss Universe competition – as Miss Australia. While she was here, she met up with the Swannies (see side picture).
On the Monday of this week, just after the Vietnam Swans historic appearance in the semi finals at an Asian Champs, Laura wrote to us to say “Congratulations Swannies!”
Laura also mentioned that on the Sunday, the day after the Champs, she had competed in Sydney’s City2Surf fun run – with a recently healed broken toe. Laura added that “Toe is good! Did it in about 6mins per km so pretty happy!!”
Judging by the length of those legs, she was probably working on averaging six big strides per km!
Laura was actually running as an Ambassador for the City2Surf.
She wrote:
I ran in the City2Surf on Sunday for the first time! I was raising money for Make a Wish Australia (MAWA).
Make-A-Wish Australia’s mission is to grant the Wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since it’s establishment in 1985 Make-A-Wish Australia has granted over 6,500 Wishes to Australian children with life-threatening medical conditions.
My fundraising page is http://www.fundraise.city2surf.com.au/laura_dundovic. If you can help out with anything, even a $1 it would mean the world to me and Make A Wish!

Rumour has it that the most popular “Make a Wish” that MAWA receives is, simply, to hang out with the Swannies! Not surprised.
Go you Swannies!
