The Legends and All Stars played a cracking curtain raiser to the ANZAC Friendship Match.
Trent Mears has posted 100 photos here.
Meanwhile, Micky Johnston coached the All Stars on the day (and played in teh ANZAC Friendship Match). Below, he thanks his All Stars.
It was an absolute delight to work with everyone in the All Stars team on April 21st in Vung Tau.
As my first coaching assignment, it was a daunting task, but I was fortunate to have a great bunch of individuals who came together excellently on the day to create a very good team.
Our international squad came from Ireland, USA, China, Australia and Viet Nam.
Everyone stuck to their tasks, and a number of people made my job easier by working out rotations amongst themselves so that I had less people to worry about coming on and off the bench.
The dedication to play hard and follow instructions made it very easy for me to coach the guys, and the experienced footballers did a fantastic job of helping out the newcomers to the game.
It was a lot of fun giving people an opportunity to try different positions, and it was essential that “FUN” was the key aspect of the match (along with not getting injured!).
Players on the Legends team were equally committed to having fun, and the spectators witnessed a great footy match, so thanks to everyone on both teams.
It’s too early to talk about reunions, but I know everyone will keep some memory of that day in Vung Tau with them.
As the Swans love to remind everyone, “Footy was the winner”, and there were plenty of people Honking their Horn on April 21st.
