Saigon’s Dave O’Shea’s image (and Dave Skowronski’s image) appear on the posters and tickets for this year’s AFL Grand Final Parties in Hanoi and Saigon.

Swannies’ superstar and Chief Sporting Columnist for this website, Dave O’Shea is at it again. This time he is our Saigon poster boy for the Swannies’ AFL Grand Final Parties.

Dave shares the space with another Dave, Dave “SOS” Skowronski who is our Hanoi poster boy.

Following that tradition that poster boys are presented with ticket No. 001, this is exactly what happened last Friday night at Sammy Conroy’s farewell. Dave O’Shea was presented with Ticket No. 001.

The following day at training, a very proud Dave was there with his lucky ticket and a poster for the waiting media (see photo).

On a related matter, Dave O’Shea, who also comes from Binh Duong (somewhere near Saigon), says that he has been examining the AFL’s website.

Following his study, Dave has declared that “the Swannies are better than the AFL”.

Dave goes on to explain how this is possible:

  1. The slogan for the AFL series is ‘This is Greatness’ whereas the slogan for the Swannies’ Grand Final Party is, ‘This is Awesomeness’. ‘Awesomeness’ is better than ‘greatness’. So that’s the first reason.
  2. If you look at the poster boys on the Swannies’ poster, there are two ‘dep trai (handsome) Daves, whereas, if you look at the pictures on the AFL website, you have guys such as Brett Ratten, Choco Williams and a few from the Lions (who haven’t enjoyed as much success). (Ed’s note: original wording has been toned down to avoid accusations of slander…)

“So that’s just two reasons why the Swannies are better than the AFL.

“Ahhhh McRae, you’ve done it again!!!!!! (Ross McRae Design did the artwork for the poster and tickets.) HONK HONK!”
