The Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh, thanks the Vietnam Swans and community.

The Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh, in a letter dated 8 April 2011, has written to the National President of the Vietnam Swans thanking the local community for our recent floods fund raising activities.

Dear Mr Johns

Please accept my personal thanks for the generous donation to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.

The kindness and generosity of donors such as you is greatly appreciated. All of the money raised by the appeal will be used to assist the people who have been affected by the extensive flood and cyclone damage experienced across Queensland communities during December 2010 and early January 2011.

Teh financial support provided has demonstrated that Queensland’s relationship with teh international business community extends far beyond our trading relationship. Your commitment to getting Queensland back to normal has only strengthened this relationship.

I can assure you that my government is committed to helping the affected communities on the road to recovery and will continue to work in partnership with the Australian Government, local councils, Australian Red Cross and other non government organisations and volunteers to support people through this difficult time.

It is in these difficult times that the support of our friends is greatly appreciated.

Once again, on behalf of the people of Queensland, thank you for your donation.

Yours sincerely
ANNA BLIGH MP
PREMIER OF QUEENSLAND

In January and February of this year, the Vietnam Swans together with the Australian Chamber of Commerce, JASPAS, VINO and the Commonwealth Bank raised AUD36,000 in HCMC, Hanoi and Vung Tau. The Social Club at the Australian Embassy in Hanoi, supported by the Swannies, then raised an additional USD9,000.

Thank you very much to all the businesses and individuals who so generously supported these initiatives.
