On Friday night in Hanoi, 10 December 2010, Hanoi’s best were recognised at a great awards night at JASPAS.
The results were as follows:
- Vietnam’s Rising Start Award – Nick Russo
- Hanoi’s Best & Fairest – Greg “Stanno” Stanton
- Hanoi’s Best Off-Field – Dan Hopkins
- Hanoi’s Best Club Man – Dan Kindness
17 year old Nick Russo was the well deserved winner of Vietnam’s 2010 Rising Star Award. On the field, he was always presenting and working hard. Nick managed to pick up a number of votes in Asia’s toughest competition, the Asian Champs in Shanghai.
Stanno, Hanoi’s coach, did a fantastic job on the field. Strength, skill, footy nouse… Challenge for the match committee in 2011 is to have him reduce his work commitments so he can play in more internationals!
Hanoi’s best off field, Dan Hopkins was an obvious choice. Somnehow manages to easily back up his off field performance with impressive on-field performances as well!
Dan Kindness was the runaway winner for the Best Club Man. He did an amazing job for the inaugural ANZAC Friendship Weekend in Vung Tau this year as well as introducing the mid week fitness session at the Australian Embassy.
It takes a lot of people to make a footy club flourish. The four individuals above have been singled out for their excellence but we also recognise all who have contributed. 2010 has been a great building year in the north and the foundation it has created for a successful 2011 year for the Vietnam Swans shows enormous promise.
