Last night was the second week that the Swannies headed out to RMIT to give the students a session with the Sherrin.
We unleashed our secret weapon, our very own Vietnamese superstar Swannie, Tung (Daniel).
Last week, Mr Quang arrived at the end of training – and promptly promised to return this week with some of his friends. He blitzed. Along with Quang came Nghia and Tan.
Ms Jessica also returned sporting a second Swannies shirt.
Swannies coach, Andy Glendinning took us all through some handball and kicking drills before we finished with a match.
Our new recruits were starting to find some good form as they became more familiar with the ball. Alas, during the match, Tan (Ed’s note: correction, this is actually Thinh, not Tan. See Footnote for further details) was chasing the football when it bounced awkwardly and gave his lip a small cut. Sometimes the soccer ball has a more predictable bounce, for sure!
Apart from that, it was all good.
Thanks very much to the new recruits and to the Swannies who helped out yesterday.
The RMIT Student Session is held every Wednesday in Saigon from 4-6pm. We’ll see you all again next week in increasing numbers.
Footnote and Apology…
Player, Nguyen Huu Nghia has written in to advise that he has some “good news and bad news for you.
“The good news is Tan’s lip is Ok and the bad news is that his name is Thinh– not Tan !
“I already watched all the video about Australian football on Vietnam Swans website and on Youtube. This game is so awesome and I wonder why we just play one day per week?”
Nghia, come to training on Saturdays from 2-4pm for more Swannies and footy awesomeness!
