The SAFL returns tomorrow at Hoa Lu from 10am, don’t be late and come down even if you haven’t played yet. This weeks teams see the ladder leading Vipers join forces with the Crocs and the 2021 champ Bears join with the ever consistent Tigers. Last week it was the Bears best in Ryan Tishler, Ella Walsh and Jono Mackay announce themselves back ont he 2022 stage. In Round 5 they join with the Tigers who bring some serious scoring power including league leading Wayne McMahon and the midfield grunt of Dinh Anh and Andy G and Ryano Glynn’s power all over the field.
The Vipers also had a good week with the win last week with Alan Power standing out, Cam Pirret exploding out of the middle and Nath Milner ever reliable down back. This week they team up with Sean Milner’s Crocs putting the SAFL’s 2021 MVP Rusty Clarke and emerging goal threat Pete McElhone into the contest.
The season is hotting up with last week’s round 4 results seeing the Vipers head to the top of the table, the Bears get on the board in their title defense and the Tigers and Crocs who teamed up station themselves mid table.
A Crocs/Vipers win will see the Vipers take the lead in the 2022 season and the Crocs move into prime position whereas a Tigers/Bears win will see Tigers back to the pointy end of the league and the bears right back up into the mix.
The goalkicking race is always one of the most exciting parts of the season and it’s taking shape with 2 smaller forwards taking charge as we hit the pointy end. The Tigers skipper Wayne McMahon and Crocs sharp shooting Irish gun Pete McElhone both doing well week on week. Ryan Tishler and Cam Pirret are proving to be big scorers from the guts but will need to do more to catch the leaders up front.
