RMIT District 7 – June 10, 2023, 10:45AM to 12:30PM
IMPORTANT – Make sure you contact your captain or coach to be put on the entry list to RMIT if you haven’t played in previous rounds.
As Round 3 kicks off this weekend at RMIT, we are again going to experience some well rounded play using an oblong ball. The highlight for this weekend will be the dynamic play from the female players from the Vipers/Crocs and the Bears/Tigers. Both Aofie’s, Molly C., Lucy “the terror” Nguyen, Mary E. Nicole Sandman, and Huyen T. will fill the lineups for the favorites, the Vipers/Crocs. This weekend they should show some extraordinary tenacity on the ball and in contested possession. Alana D., Jennifer M., Niamh K., Evrena “EE” Everand, and LO Rourke will fill the roles for the Tigers/Bears and will certainly display hard running and a passion to take territory.
In unusual fashion the Bears are sitting atop of the ladder at the start of the season and are grilling to keep their form this year. The back-to-back SAFL champions looking to 3-peat over the inspiring leadership of Jono MACKAY (not McKay, you think I’m Irish???) who will team up with previous Bears member and now Tigers captain Ryan Tishler, who only appears to win with the Bears? The gruesome twosome shall team up in the midfield in what will be completely one sided humiliation.
As always, Cameron King gets a mention although he’s been doing more talking than kicking it seems! Must be a common occurrence in Gawler as his mates on social media have also gone quiet, perhaps another best on ground performance from Cam will bring them back?
With Coach Wayne bringing in the new generation of Lady Swans, and numerous gaelic players now realising they can physically hurt people have truly unleashed their skills over the previous matches, with the grunt of Evrena (Ev) outdoing the boys on possessions, or hard running of Alana (Canadian) with her Canadian counterpart Katie (Also Canadian). It’ll be hard to miss these girls as they’ll be at every contest.
We look forward to some spicy match ups, with what might possibly be some big surprises. Will Bill Crang go forward and show off his talent instead of his words? Will Rusty return to the bull he is after a long period out? Can he carry his team like he usually has to? Can Vinh Diesel and Jakob Medlin continue their improvements and go to the next level? All will be answered this weekend at SAFL Round 2.
We all look forward to what is expected to be an unbelievable battle on Saturday and we hope you can make it down to support our SAFL league.
