The SAFL Returns to Saigon for Round 2 where 1 of the Tigers or Crocs team will go clear top of the 2022 ladder, one of the Bears or Vipers will go to stone cold last after back to back losses.
Fur v Scales
The Mammals vs Reptiles go at it again with several huge outs with the Tigers/Bears set to be without the Bears leadership core with captain Timmy P unable to find his way out of Amsterdam’s Red Light District and Tommy Sullivan attending the Port Power’s 2022 Season funeral at the Adelaide Oval. To make matters worse on the leadership front Andy Glendinning, the Tiger’s heart and soul, has had last minute family issues meaning he will be heading out of Saigon when the ball is bounced. Plenty of prior long weekend engagements mean the furs will start firm underdogs leaving them hoping for a reptile dysfunction (pun credit the Big Rooster).
Firepower
The one area the Mammals will take some confidence in is the scoring firepower with 2021 goalkicking Award winner Wayne McMahon hitting the ground running in Round 1. There have been whispers of some mammal emergency back-ups being called in for the game with experience rather than youth the focus. The Reptiles do have some firepower of their own though with Pete McElhone gaining goal-kicking craft with every game he plays and AFL Asia’s favorite full forward the Big Rooster lurking near the big sticks.
Engine Rooms
This is where it’ll be decided. Reigning MVP Rusty Clark took game 1 by storm and the Milners will relish being able to play side by side meaning the Tigers/Bears inside bulls including Ryan Tishler, Jono Mackay and Dinh Anh will need to be at their best to stay in the contest.
