Dezza, pumped about another big Swannies week.

Saigon Prez, Dez and an edited extract of his Weekly Update.

Thanks to everyone who came to training last night at Parklands.  It was a good turn out for our first mid week training session and I hope we can keep it up for the next couple of weeks.  Now is the time for us to put our heads down and put in as much as we can prior to the Indochina Cup which will give ourselves the best chance of taking the title for the first time. We have been runners up for the last two Cups and this year is our best chance yet.

Training will be on at RMIT at 2 30 pm sharp this Saturday as usual.

Anyone who is looking for an extra fitness session, there are weekly runners in D2.  If you’re keen, just let me know.

Vung Tau Training weekend

The weekend of 13 November we have scheduled a training session in Vung Tau at the world famous dog track.  We would like to make this into a weekend for those interested, or, you can make it a day trip if that is your preference.  It takes around about 1 1/2 hours and cost VND 160,000 one way.   Tickets can be purchased at the ferry terminal.

Training is scheduled to start at 1 30 pm on the Saturday so we will need everyone at the dog track ready to go by then.

For accommodation Fabbo has been recommended the Petro Hotel.

On the Saturday after training Glenn will host us for after training beers at Tommy’s 3, and then we will be looking at heading back to the dog track for the races on that night.  It is an experience not to be missed for those who have never been!  On Sunday, Tim Clements has arranged a brief tour of Club Sponsor, Strategic Marine, and then is putting on a BBQ with pool at his place afterwards.

It would be great to see everyone in Vung Tau.  The Vung Tau Massive make a big effort to come up to HCMC to train and play footy for the club so this is the least we can do.  Plus who isn’t keen for a night away from Saigon?

Vietnam Swans/Vietnam Housewares Sale

The sale is on this weekend at Snap Cafe (Tran Ngoc Dien, An Phu, D2) from 8 am to 2 pm. Make sure you come along and pick up some quality housewares at a bargain price.  Everything went very quickly at the last sale, however we will have a lot more items this time around.

I am looking for a couple of volunteers to assist with the loading and unloading of the items early on Saturday morning.  We will need assistance from around 6 – 6 30 am for this task, plus we would love to have some people come and assist with the sale aspect also.  So if you can help out please let me know.  All money raised goes towards subsidising training so it is good for everyone if thing go well.

Christmas Party

Lastly, I just want to send out the first heads up for our end of year Christmas Party, which we are planning to hold on Saturday 4th Dec.  This is a day to let our hair down, and a chance for the Club to thank our sponsors and all of you, our loyal members.  So make sure you keep that day free and bring the family as well.  Last year even Santa turned up.  I am sure we can call him and ask him to drop past this year as well.
