Gaelic footy and normal footy return to Saigon for the St Paddy’s weekend in a combined classic put on by the Saigon Gaels and Vietnam Swans.
Below, the Saigon Gaels provide more details.
Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s that wonderful time of the year again when you are encouraged to drink beer and eat all the potatoes you want.
That’s right, it’s St. Paddy’s Day!
The Saigon Gaels, in cooperation with the Vietnam Swans, will host their second Gaelic /Aussie Rules Football Match. The game will be played in quarters; two quarters Gaelic football and two quarters AFL. Everyone is invited, from Ireland to Australia and all the countries in between with no exceptions (except England… Ahhhh ok, the English can play as well).
Throw in is at 2:30pm at RMIT, District 7 but there will be a quick briefing before the game at 2pm to instruct players on the rules and basic skills involved and to arrange teams.
You do not need to have played either sport before and we encourage everyone to come along and have some fun. It is an awesome opportunity to try a new sport with some fantastic guys in a great sporting atmosphere.
During the game, there will be Irish music. The Al Fresco’s Group will be selling food, Guinness, and other beverages.
After the game, there will be a fines session amongst players and supporters, a raffle to support the Loreto Foundation and a Geckos rugby game.
The Saigon Gaels have organized Jaspas (Dong Khoi Str) after the game with several drink and food deals for a few hours before continuing on into town and painting it red (or Green).
We hope you can join us for what is sure to be a fantastic day out and remember, everyone is Irish on St. Paddy’s Day!
