You may recall that USD2,550 was raised at the 2013 ANZAC Friendship Match for charity. The money was donated to:
- Swim Vietnam
- Vung Tau & Long Hai Orphanages; and
- Water Safety Vietnam
Earlier in the week, My Huong from the Vung Tau and Long Hai Orphanges emailed the Vietnam Swans to provide an update.
The money was used to purchase 35 sunshade blinds for the Long Hai Centre as per the attached photo.

Granddaughter of ex POW, Bill Haskell writes comment on Swannies’ website
Speaking of ANZAC Matches, you will recall that the Vietnam Swans toured to Thailand for the 2009 ANZAC Dawn Service at Hellfire Pass and the football match in Kanchanaburi.
Ex POW, Bill Haskell, who also attended the match, delivered a speech at the morning service held at Kanchanaburi War Cemetery. With Bill’s permission, his moving speech was published on this website on 14 May 2009.
Two weeks ago, on 1 July, the late Bill Haskell’s granddaughter, Marcia, left a comment on this website:
“I am the extremely proud grand daughter of Bill Haskell.
