The Vietnam Swans and Hanoi Oi’s Netballers will enter the Sapa Half Marathon (near the Chinese border) on 9 September 2012 to raise money for Swim Vietnam.

Swim Vietnam is teaching kids to not only survive in the water but to thrive in it. This is particularly important in Vietnam where more kids die from drowning than road accidents.

The driving force behind raising money to support Swim Vietnam through the Half Marathon is the Swannies’ Hanoi Coach, Adrian “Ado” Enright. Ado writes,

“At the end of the year, I plan to pack up in Vietnam and head home. As a parting gift, a few mates in the Vietnam Swans are planning to run the Sapa21 Half Marathon on 9 September in the name of one of our partner charities – Swim Vietnam. Please check out the You Tube clip above (needs sound), follow the link and help make a difference to the kids in the community that has helped me call this place home for a while.”

It costs around $25 for Swim Vietnam to put one child through the whole swimming program. So, for $25, you can teach one child to swim or pay $300 to teach a whole class.
