Hall of Fame Inductees
There is no set number of Swannies who will be inducted into teh Hall of Fame each year. It is entirely dependent upon outstanding contribution. Last year, the inaugural year, there were three inductees. This year, there may be three more. Or two. Or one. Or even none.
Additionally, the decision has been taken whereby if anyone is elevated to the Hall of Fame, it will only be announced at the annual Awards. The presentation will occur at the McMillan Dinner which follows the next ANZAC Friendship Match in Vung Tau.
It was considered that with the growing status and prestige fo the McMillan Dinner and ANZAC Friendship Weekend, this wouold be a very appropriate event to present the award to the recipient. Additionally, if the recipient has already left Vietnam, then they have five months to see if they can arrange things for a return visit for the ANZAC Weekend.
Speaking of the ANZAC Friendship Match, Rick Trewavas – whom the Clubman of the Year award is named after – has said that, subject to his health, he would like to attend in 2015.
This Sunday, 8 December, the Vietnam Swans present the 2013 Annual National and Saigon Awards from midday at McSorleys, Thao Dien, District 2. To confirm your attendance, please email Mark Stennett.
