Last Sunday, Ado Enright was joined by other Swannies and the Hanoi Oi’s in the Sapa Half Marathon to raise money for Swim Vietnam.

Last weekend, the Hanoi Oi’s Netballers and Vietnam Swans rised a sweat to raise money. They ran across mountains in Sapa to help kids swim in central Vietnam.

Sunday morning saw a huge representation of members of the Hanoi contingent of the Vietnam Swans, together with the Hanoi Oi’s netball team, test their mountain climbing abilities across muddy 21km and 10km trails in Sapa, on the border with China. Everyone who competed successfully dodged fighting buffaloes, ankle-deep mud pits and Sapa tour buses to complete the circuit in impressive times.

The run was not only a test for the guys to get fit before November’s 2012 IndoChina Cup in Hanoi, but it was also a vehicle to raise money for the Swim Vietnam program.

So far, we have raised over USD4,000, and are still looking for generous hands to get us to our USD5,000 goal.

Big congratulations go out to Luke from the Viet Celts Gaelic Team who took out the race in just under an hour and 22 minutes.

We would also like to thank all the organisers from the Hanoi Red River Runners for their efforts in coordinating the event.
