At the Vietnam Swans 2010 AFL Grand Final Party in Saigon, we auctioned off a jumper that was donated by Melbourne’s Rohan Bail.
Next weekend, at the Asian Championships in Shanghai, the Vietnam Swans will return the favour. We will present Rohan with a Vietnam Swans jumper.
Bail debuted for the second time (hearin’ me??) in Round 2 this year. His “first” debut happened last year in round 19 and lasted less than a quarter after he strained his quad in the warm up (see Bail shines in second debut).
Bail is a midfielder who is just at the beginning of his career. As a relatively young Club, the Vietnam Swans remember very clearly how much of a difference a little support can make. Therefore, we will be delighted to present Rohan with our No. 44 Swannies jumper in a gesture of support for a long and successful playing career.
Hopefully, Rohan will also be a convert to Asian footy after his weekend in Shanghai!
Melbourne will be in Shanghai for the Shanghai Showdown against the Brisbane Lions on Sunday, 17 October. According to World Footy News, the Demons departed from Australia last Sunday and will return on Saturday 23 October.
Melbourne’s touring party of 130 includes the full playing list, football department and all administration staff. This is believed to be the biggest ever overseas trip conducted by an AFL club. Melbourne’s key destinations include Moganshan, Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.
Special thanks to Melbourne and the Swannies’ Josh Little for organising Rohan Bail’s jumper presentation.
Coming Up: Asian Champs Draw – tomorrow night at 8.30pm China time.
