Today, Twilight Tuesday, from 5 – 5.45pm, the Vietnam Swans will play against a combined team from HMAS Yarra and HMAS Huon at RMIT University, D7, Saigon. All welcome!
This match against the Royal Australian Navy follows on from our matches against ANZAC (2008) and DARWIN (2009).
Sandwiched between work and darkness, Twilight Tuesday will commence at 5pm sharp and will comprise two twenty-minute halves. While the Swannies will miss two of our biggest guns, Dez and Nicko, and Coach Josh, we shall launch an all-out offensive to retain the Phoenix Cup Perpetual Trophy.
The Australian Consul General, Graeme Swift, shall present the Phoenix Cup to the winning team.
Al Fresco’s shall be selling food and drinks at the oval.
Afterwards, we shall move to the Boomarang Bistro in District 7. The Boomarang shall provide food and drinks for two hours for VND 400,000 ($20). All welcome!
Special thanks to RMIT University for opening its oval for this match. The oval is usually closed in October as part of its annual maintenance program. Special thanks to Ross McRae for designing the latest classic Swannies’ banner. Ah, McRae, you’ve done it again…
Two great tours by the Navy with the Swannies. The third’s about to start…
Since the Yarra and Huon came up the Saigon River this morning, there has been a discernible increase in the number of motorcyclists honking their horns. And that’s because they love the footy. Honk!
We hope to see you for the bounce of the ball at 5pm.
