Yesterday, the NAB pre season competition kicked off in Dubai with the Adelaide Crows crunching the Magpies by 81 points. The curtain raiser to that match was the Dubai Dingoes against the Dubai Heat (which played in last year’s Asian Champs). As yet, we are still to find out who won that match.
We can report however that, according to 7 Days (which the Swans Blog suspects is a Dubai newspaper), the Magpies invited the Dingoes to become one of their sister clubs.
Collingwood has similar sister club relationships with clubs in London and New York. The Magpies Marketing Director, David Emerson, is quoted in 7 Days as saying, “We come to Dubai quite a lot as we are sponsored by Emirtaes… Whether it’s simply providing equipment or helping with coaching, we’re glad to support (the Dingoes) as they look to boost the sport here in the UAE.”
If Eddie McGuire’s Magpies are such shockers on the field, howcome they are so good off the field?? As a Kiwi once remarked, “It doesn’t make sinse (sic)”.
