The Vietnam Swans are delighted to announce that Wide Eyed Tours shall be a jumper sponsor of the Vietnam Swans in 2012 and 2013. Wide Eyed Tours shall take the right breast of the playing jumper.
Wide Eyed Tours was founded by veteran Swannie, Trav Fennell and his Kiwi business partner and Swannie groupie, Mike Keenan.
Trav has played an integral role for the Swannies since our first game in November, 2003 when the Hanoi “Swannies” were known as the “Bloods”. He was there when the new, national Vietnam “Swannies” debuted at the Asian Champs in 2007. He has held various positions on the Swannies’ Committee providing strategic and operational advice to those who ask and those who don’t.
Co founder, Mike the Kiwi, has always been a keen supporter of the Swannies and proudly reminds us that he has “line reffed for you guys”, run the water and helped give our visiting teams a great stay in Vietnam.
Together, through Wide Eyed Tours, they have sponsored individual events such as the Swannies’ AFL Grand Final Parties in Hanoi. However, this is the first time that Wide Eyed Tours has been a National Sponsor of the Vietnam Swans.
Swans’ National President, Phil Johns said,
“This is an incredibly exciting sponsorship. Firstly, it’s an endorsement of the Club by those who know us very well. Secondly, as an Australian Football Club playing footy in Asia, we’re reliant upon travel services. Opposing teams must travel to Vietnam to play footy; and the Swans must travel to play footy. While the Swannies like to play footy, Wide Eyed Tours likes to provide travel solutions.
“With the Swannies’ growing profile in Australia, particularly with events like the ANZAC Friendship Match, Wide Eyed Tours can use our sponsorship as a way of helping to differentiate their product in a key market and in the process, further raise the profile of the Swannies. A classic ‘nguyen-nguyen’ situation.”
Both Trav and Mike are married to Vietnamese and have children. They both speak the local language fluently and have extensive travel industry experience throughout Indochina. The Swannies know very well their ability to get things done in Vietnam. Wide Eyed Tours’ tag line is to “Experience our Experience” which is both inviting and reassuring – especially to people not familiar with the country.
Word is already spreading about Wide Eyed Tours. Just yesterday, Glenn Nolan from another Swannies Sponsor, Tommy’s Bar, Vung Tau, referred an enquiry for a stay in Hoi An. New recruit Scott Turner needed some help with a trip to Mui Ne. Wide Eyed Tours is also organising the Club’s Cambodian Cannonball Run for our match against the Cambodian Eagles on 3 March 2012.
Celebratory Offer for Swannies – The Vietnam Beach Bicycle Backroads Tour
To celebrate the Wide Eyed Tours’ sponsorship of the Swannies, they would like to offer all Swans Members and Players a $500 discount (conditions apply) on the Vietnam Beach Bicycle Backroads Tour of 2012.
“Come and enjoy some stunning scenery in areas where most tourists never venture, do a little exercise to work off the previous night’s beers, eat some delicious local food in regions you’ve never been and do all of that with a fun bunch of people, including Travis and Mike.
“The entire tour is 13 days departing on 9th April from Hanoi. However, the Swannies’ crew may wish to shorten this by joining the tour half way and depart on 19th April ready for the ANZAC Friendship Match on 21 April. All requests will be accommodated. For further details visit www.wideeyedtours.com or email Travis, Mike, Tracey or Nga.”
Other Major Sponsors
The Swannies’ Signature Sponsor of 2012 is Pest Free which is on the back of our jumper. Commonwealth Bank is also on the back and the Worldwide Arms Museum, Vung Tau is on our playing shorts.
