Channel 7’s Sunday Night program recently followed Loreto Vietnam’s Sr Trish Franklin around Melbourne and HCMC. The program went to air last night on the 7 Network in Australia.

The show opens with Trish watching the Collingwood Vs Geelong Preliminary Final on 17 September at Cafe Latin in HCMC. The presenter, Ross Coulthard observes:

It’s quite disarming to see a nun drinking a beer, in a bar, in central HCMC, watching footy. Come on Trish, not every nun does that!

Trish replies:

No. Maybe they don’t like footy, Ross?

The program looks at Trish’s life. Among other things, she’s a “fanatical” (read “revolting”) supporter of Carlton. There’s even footage of her meeting Chris Judd at Optus Oval. But above all, the program is about her work in Vietnam. Ross continues:

For the past 16 years, this fairdinkum nun has been educating, feeding and rescuing the poor and forgotten children of Vietnam.

At one point, Ross comments:

You are one of the most unconventional nuns I have ever met. You don’t wear God on your sleeve, do you?

No, but He’s in my heart, Trish replies.
