The Vietnam Swans Swim Teacher of the Month award recognizing an outstanding swimming teacher in the Swim Vietnam team. To appreciate the fantastic work that they do, the Swans present the recipient with a 500,000 VND cash prize, and a Vietnam Swans cap.

The Vietnam Swans Swim Teacher of the Month (August) is Nhung. Nhung is 19, and has taught with Swim Vietnam for 2 years. She is a champion swimmer and has just completed her Royal Life Saving Bronze Level Examiner qualification. She is the only female Royal Life Saving CPR and Bronze Examiner in Vietnam.

When awarding Nhung her 500,000 VND cash prize and Swannies cap, Swannie MJ took the chance to ask her a few questions.

“What made you want to become a swim teacher?”
Nhung – I have a competitive swimming background and I have a passion for swimming and being in the water, so I want to give this experience to my students.

“Why do you think there are more male teachers than female teachers?”
People in Vietnam think that female teachers cannot teach once per month, that they are too worried about having pale skin and that female teachers are not as strong as male teachers.
We think Nhung has clearly proved this wrong!

“Does Swim Vietnam champion Jo Stewart look better wearing a pink wig or a blue wig at parties?”
As well as being a swim teacher, I also work at a bar on An Bang beach in Hoi An. Jo Stewart is often there in either a blue or pink wig. I think the pink one is better!
