Willy's Mum meets his daughter, Isabella.

National President, Phil Johns, passes on the news about Willy’s Mum.

Swannies, with great sadness, I have just heard from Willy that his mother has died this morning. Willy’s email, with a photo of his Mum is below.

Willy will fly back to Australia tomorrow for his mother’s funeral. Obviously, we will be wearing the black arm bands on Saturday and thinking of Willy, his Mum and his family.

It will be a busy weekend as other Swannies we will be wearing the armbands for are Paul Koch’s Dad, Joe Russo’s Mum and the then Hanoi Swans’ former strapper, Graham Steward.

Willy was picked in our ANZAC team and with him now being absent, the Coaching Panel has asked Hanoian and Club Legend, Trav Fennell to step up to take the Hanoi President’s place in the selected team.

Willy, all the Swannies will be thinking of you down in Vungers this weekend when we run out onto the ground.

Go you Swannies!

Willy’s email is below:

Fabbo, sadly my Mum passed away this morning an hour or two ago. My brother was with her during the night and said that she died as peacefully as possible.

I was only thinking last night how much she loved her footy. She and Dad would come watch me in the juniors every morning game & then get dressed up every Saturday arvo to watch South Adelaide in the members at the magnificent Adelaide oval.

I am also very grateful that Isabella got to meet her Grandmother last summer holidays.

If you could let a few of the boys know that would be appreciated.

Thanks again Fabbo for the Club’s and your support.

Willy, we’re all thinking of you, Mon, Isabella and the family.
